Zero Waste Shaving

Thank you for joining along as my plastic free journey continues. The next step I took to being plastic free, and admittedly it took me awhile to continue this journey, was purchasing the safety razor. Disposable razors are made up of, you guessed it, plastic, and to reduce my use of plastic I decided to try the safety razor.   The safety razor has been around for a long time, much longer than the disposable razor, the first patent was in 1880 but the concept of a safety razor has been around even longer. This was in a time where shaving was a predominately male grooming habit and living out in the sticks was not conducive to traveling into town and seeing the barber all the time. Waste Free Periods - The Menstrual Cup

Ok so I was going to ease into this and do a post about my plastic free shampoo, but NAW I am going to start where I actually started myself, TAMPONS!! According to D.J. Chase, et al, women use between 11 and 30 tampons per cycle, that is a lot of waste, and if you prefer tampons with an applicator that is plastic and waste. In order to reduce waste during my menstrual cycle I started using a menstrual cup, the Luna Cup to be specific. DON'T STOP READING!!! I know I did the same thing when I first learned about the menstrual cup "EWWW GROSS" but no really it is one of the healthiest and easiest ways to lower you waste, and is no grosser than a tampon or pad. There are a lot of options for a menstrual cup the Luna, Lunette , Dutchess , Diva , and Athena .  I picked the luna cup because there website is user friendly, they have a spinning wheel that gives you a deal if you put in your email address, there are so many options to customize the perfect menstrual cup for y...

The Beginning of my Journey

Hello my name is Kelsey, and I have started this blog to document my struggles becoming plastic free and to hopefully share any great products I find along the way that are eco-friendly and awesome. I will be going room by room on my plastic free journey. Why room by room you ask? Well because the bathroom seemed the easiest place for me personally to de-plastic my life. I hope to upload a blog post every Sunday and most, if not all of them, will be about my plastic free journey, but there could be something different thrown in every so often. Follow along on my journey/struggle to become plastic free in my everyday life.
